there was an ooc survey a couple of months back that the mods are apparently in the process of reacting to - it read like a lot of the feedback was related to game tone and the overall stagnant nature of the setting, and while it does seem like the mods are making an effort, it might just be a case of too little too late.
plus you also have the people in game who aren't interested in the darker aspect of the setting at all (for ex, I wouldn't say there's been 'too much' horror, unlike one of the other anons, but understandably, that's a very ymmv thing.)
i don't think it helps where this month's event was a total wash for a lot of people. the month before was more intense, but due to the nature of it, i think it was the sort of thing that didn't really encourage a lot of tagging out - and also struggled with a lot of tonal whiplash between the first half of the event and the second.
