I hope they never get a Spirit. She fucks up Maka's issues with her father so badly that it would just be a miserable experience for them. Because obviously Spirit is evil and the epitome of all that is bad in the world.

I'm surprised she has a Kid and they're staying, tbh.

she probably told them the OOCness was because of character development

most likely. i remember her telling an anon that the reason why maka curses more than normal was because she had been influenced by karkat.

To be fair specifically on that point, depending on translation Maka actually does have a pretty foul mouth. Even in Japanese she's a bit nasty with words.

But attributing it to Karkat...

She's not...ladylike in the Japanese, but she's not...that either. Mostly she can just be pretty rude. Translating that as cursing is clumsy at best.

Oh god I used to have mutual plurk friends and now I'm remembering her. She was such a shithead about that

Like okay Spirit was a shitty husband and a shitty father, that's a given. But that doesn't make him THE WORST. Hell it's not even close to being the worst possible in the subset of 'men who have trouble keepin it in their pants'

Re: Mozart

Exactly. Maka, in canon, definitely gets annoyed with him and calls him out when he does something shitty (like the whole cheating thing), but they do have father/daughter moments. He gave Maka his ex-wife's wedding ring and Maka happily accepted it and he hugged her also and she didn't react negatively about it.

Even in the recent chapters, Maka and Spirit fought together and they resonated pretty well together. If Maka hated him as much as Mozart is leading her on, they wouldn't had resonated at all.

Maka says she hates her father but she doesn't hate hate him. I believe she only says it to get under his skin like any other teenager.

When she says that it's almost always in frustration in response to something he did and shouldn't be taken literally.

Their relationship is complicated and broken but they're still father and daughter and the love between them still exists. Maka wants her father back but can't accept his behavior. Spirit wants to repair their relationship, but is unwilling or unable to modify his behavior to do so. Which makes him a flawed human being and a shitty father. But he's not a monster. Just kind of an ass.

Yeah, this. Also, Okubo pit Spirit against Medusa and when Medusa explained that she was Chrona's abusive mother, SPIRIT GOT FUCKING PISSED. The comparison between them and their feelings for their kids can't be clearer: for all of his hugeflaws, Spirit does love Maka dearly and would NEVER abuse her in even 1/10 of the way Medusa treated Chrona.

So flawed as Spirit is, Mozart is clearly subjecting him to Ron the Death Eater despite how canon openly compares him to a much worse parent and established limits. Projection, much?

Forgot to add "NAYRT" since I just "arrived" to this thread. Sorry.

it's totally projection. there's never been any doubt that she uses maka as a mouthpiece, so her misconstruing maka and spirit's relationship so she can vent her sjw misandrist frustration is not surprising at all.

She's kinda like this with Soul, too.

Re: Mozart

(Anonymous) 2013-04-11 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Every time there's a Soul in dear mun, she guilt trips them and purposely makes them feel shitty at the fact that she got killed and he wasn't there to protect her.

Re: Mozart

Probably why every Soul idles out after joining.

Re: Mozart

(Anonymous) 2013-04-11 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
...but Maka's not dead...

no, hold on. YOu mean she approaches random-ass Souls on Dear_Mun and inflict bullshit that happened in a game that they are not a part of on them?

What the fuck. The crazy is strong with this one.

[The old]Kid killed her a year or so ago because of an event and she goes on about it a lot. And every time there's a Soul, she gives them the sob story about how she got killed and she's been alone for a long time. Just purposely making the Soul(s) feel shitty and guilty. It's like she's trying to enable them to join her game with the whole "sob sob I got killed and you weren't there to prevent it" bit. Which personally, is not the right way to get a canon mate to join the game. If I was a Soul player and she came up to me with that, I wouldn't want to touch it with a 10ft pole. The whole thing seems more of a brain breaking soap opera than an enjoyable game.
