the fans? maybe. but the actual show doesn't encourage it. his relation to clara isn't much unlike his relation to amy honestly. definitely won't bridge on the same levels of annoyance that ten/rose brought.

It's a bit different from Amy, at least so far. She's a puzzle for him to unlock. He's pursuing her and taking her along because he wants to know what her deal is.

Kind of like a prototypical River, actually.

He did but he also said it was "not in the way you'd expect" so my guess is it's either clara<->River or a false start.

....but that was exactly how it started with Amy too. Clara is being treated as a combo between Amy and River.

the doctor seems really paternal to clara, just like he was to amy.
