When people take it as a personal offense that my posts get 100+ tags when their posts get 10.

RP isn't supposed to be a popularity contest. This doesn't mean that people "just must like me better" as a player. It's probably because I'm around to tag more often. The content of my post might have just appealed to more people than the content of yours. This isn't some gamewide conspiracy plot against you.

tbf the characters in my game that routinely garner maybe ten to thirty comments total are the ones who bleed ic/ooc or are otherwise super weird.

they might be afraid of the stigma.

the people in my game whose posts always get tons of tags are the ones who tag out, don't drop threads, and follow up with cr. it's not some big mystery why everyone wants to tag them.

To be fair.

Sometimes it is a bit off-putting if the reason someone barely gets any tags is because people aren't tagging out. While the 100+ players get them due to castmates sticking together.

I've definitely seen games where the character you play is all that matters with your post. An obscure character is going to take a lot more effort to get a lot of tags to their post than the flavor of the month character will. The characters from popular canons will get loads of tags without even trying and on a stupid "Where am I?" intro made the same day as a bunch of other intros.

That's just the way RP is. Plenty of idiots won't tag characters if they don't know the canon, the character isn't the same medium, isn't played by one of their butt buddies, etc.

This! Sub-set of this, also: people who think they aren't "popular" because no one tags them, when all they need to do is DO SOME FUCKING TAGS.
