I'm one of the few remaining LA players, and I will say that I am trying to hang on because I enjoy the premise of the game and I love how it's run, but it's a struggle to stay engaged because I'm not familiar with a HUGE majority of the characters in-game.
This isn't a snobby "weh weh animus" thing, all of my CR is cross-medium and I do enjoy it, but there is that spark that comes from playing off characters you're familiar with that I'm missing. Like I look at the reserves list and can't make heads or tails of any characters on it while people on my plurk timeline are dissolving in feels, and I miss that aspect. It may be a small and petty thing but it can contribute to a feeling of exclusion too.
IDK, somewhere along the way Haven became That Anime Horror Game and I have no idea how we can fix that.
i'm the same way, not in the game, and honestly that's why i was put off from joining. it doesn't help that my past 3 game experiences have been like that, so i told myself i wasn't going to join a game unless i'm excited about the taken characters page
it's nothing against you guys, i just want to get excited over playing with characters i know and love. i want to have feels too :(

I don't mean to sound rude but "Don't fix what isn't broken". A game having an overwhelming number of anime characters or an overwhelming number of LA characters is not a bad thing. It really isn't. It isn't broken, it doesn't need to be fixed.
Having the mindset that it's wrong to be like that is honestly what causes the anime/LA divide in the first place.
If someone doesn't like it, they don't have to app into the game. That's cool. But don't try to say it's a problem because it's not.
to be honest, i play an animanga character in the game and i honestly do not know like 90% of the canons of the takens page, so i can understand feeling a little overwhelmed and confused.
but not knowing a canon or not being familiar with the canon doesn't make me feel excluded. despite being unaware, i still enjoy the game and don't hesitate to tag out to anyone else.
then again, it could be because i make it a point to know a lot of the players in the game. to me, i find ooc engagement helps a hell of a lot more than actual canon knowledge.
Honestly, I play exclusively from anime and I have no idea who most of the taken page and nearly all the reserves are. I have a small amount of anime fandoms, so there's probably a lot of anime people who are in the same boat.
I don't mind not knowing who characters are. I think it's fun to learn about them as the RP goes along, it's how I've got into most of my canons.
