an app i reviewed once started with "to truly understand this character, we must start with her grandmother"
it then proceeded to explain said grandmother's life from birth to death, then picked up with her kids, and then finally the character themselves.
with no real clue as to WHY, beyond small heirlooms that could have been explained in one sentence, we needed to hear all about granny meeting a wealthy merchant boy with auburn hair who liked to sing but moved away when she was nine.
