Playing intuitive characters and having to worry about people crying infomod.
I don't like responding to posts with the same old "WHAT'S WRONG!!!" whenever someone posts to the network with some vague cryptic PA bullshit. If something bad happened like scary event and someone posts something cryptic to the network like "I gotta go away for awhile, etc." then yeah, my character will assume something happened during the event, regardless of whether or not they know the person. It's an easy assumption to make. Sometimes I'll have my character draw conclusions based on what's already been said in public threads so the mun doesn't have to answer the same question three hundred times.
But I'm always gritting my teeth because for every person who is okay with it, there's going to be one that cries to the mods and says I'm infomodding when my character would just really grasp context clues.
My usual strategy for that is to write out a summary of the character's thought processes so it's OOCly clear how they're coming to the conclusion they are. Time-consuming but I've never had anyone accuse me of infomodding.
This is what I do for my character who is shown in canon to be able to read most people like books. He does it by picking up on context clues, just like you said.
A lot of people don't remember that characters can read public threads (I definitely forget it all the fucking time) so having a little ooc spiel of how your character realized x thing is very helpful. Otherwise... yeah, I can definitely see how people could jump to the infomodding conclusion.
