define 'salvage'. i think it's fine, just scroll past that shit if it annoys you and don't ping your character. agreed with the ooc/ic divide though, certain characters would react differently based on their ic dispositions.
I can't speak for everyone, but the game I'm playing isn't slice of life at all. I've never had so much castmate/close cr drama and psychological/physical horror packed so tightly together in any other game I've been in. Haven North has made supplies easier to grab, and some of the recent events (before the zombie-type break out) have been plottier rather than horrifying, so that might contribute to a higher standard of living, but that doesn't change the game's genre.
The key is to seek that shit out. It's not actually that hard to find. I think some of the people on RPanons were talking about that. There are IC consequences for a lot of things that range from death to hallucinations to monster attacks. You just have to decide you want to play them out, and suddenly, you and your CR have horror on your hands. Don't worry about what other people are doing. I would bet a lot of the slice of life in game comes from lack of ideas and powerful characters, so if you come up with an idea that gets things rolling, there's a good chance a lot of people who were playing slice-of-life type things a minute ago are going to be excited for terrible things the next.
I haven't played out one slice of life thing since I arrived in this game so idk what the anons are complaining about honestly. I've seen a couple of morons posting about baking a cake or whatever but the majority of stuff played out is horror or angst based, at least it is among myself and my CR.
Easy fix. Don't tag the slice-of-life bs. People like that will either get with the picture or drop once they realize no one wants to play house with them in terrorhorrormindfuckville. Or form an irritating clique of slice-of-lifers, but at least then we'll have something to casually bitch about here.
anyone who is genuinely bothered by people having their characters actually have some fun and goofing off between the horror can just ignore it if it bothers them that much
i agree it's far more a ic issue like said on the rpanons thread. some characters just aren't bothered by the daily grind so they, surprise surprise, try to live their life and relax despite the shitty situation they're in. i'm sure there are characters out there who would be horrendously depressed and constantly shitting themselves in a haven like setting, but there are plenty more that would try to make the best of what they have and have fun to lighten the mood
