My main problem wasn't that there was a shooting plot but that it was stupid. It made no sense. I don't care about whether it's appropriate or not to have the character with Down's be the one responsible, because it would've been just as dumb and contrived with someone else.
That said I thought it was Ryder (Rhyder? I can't spell these name) shooting at first because of the fake girlfriend. That would've been interesting.
