I think because it takes more time and a bit more effort to write something like this than to just let it tumble out of your mouth. So someone freaking out this way out loud is more understandable than someone typing out the whole thing and (most importantly) making the conscious decision to then share that puddle of word vomit with others.
The best part is the only comment in the chat so far was someone running in all "Is zack having a freakout in the ooc comm???" and then he immediately responds "yea I am. Like a fucking huge one." after which everyone ignored him.
