yeah, this seasons has had more plot-centric episodes than most.
Maybe being IN the season, people are forgetting that every season has this ratio or higher. 8 out of 20 episodes have been "monster of the week" type show, which is the same ratio as the first 20 episodes of season 5, and 2 less than season 4 (which has a 10 to 10 ratio. 9 to 10 if you count the smith and wesson episode as plot-centric.)
It's especially weird when people talk about the first 5 seasons being the best. I think the first season is mostly terrible and nearly all monster of the week episodes. At least the monster of the week episodes now are mostly good. The only one that I really didn't like was the werewolf one that didn't really feature the boys at all.
I forgive season 1, because it was still feeling it's self out. But yeah, 1 and 2 are very episodic, so if your issues is not enough plot, and ou list 1 and 2 as better...wut.
