See, that's not how I read it at all. I don't know, some of the wording was off and made me side-eye hard, but it read as genuine to me? I didn't think it came off as LOOK AT ME I'M A GREAT GUY as much as I fucked up, this is how I am trying to improve.

I'm as disgusted as anyone but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt? At least if anything I think he's an idiot rather than actively seeking to harm people like Ken or Hellion.

that's how i read it too, anon. he seemed genuinely remorseful, like he wanted to not be such a shitty person and do right. i too am appalled by all of this, but i took this confession as a desire to do better and apologize. it doesn't erase the fucking terrible things he's done and the deceptions he's perpetuated, but i am also willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Serious question: Assuming that a person in question is not in fact a sociopath without emotions, and has done something they feel to be morally repugnant, should they...not feel bad? Like I have no idea what it feels like to have done that, thank fucking god, but I feel bad enough about little things I've done in the past like shoplifting or hell just being a bully.

I don't think excoriating someone for feeling very human emotions makes a lot of sense when there's other shit to excoriate him for.

funk isn't sorry he raped his ex. he's sorry he got found out. read that pastebin and you'll see for yourself how remorseful he really is when describing the incident. how he has that it was rape from the survivor's perspective and how he just doesn't happen to recall almost punching her yet remembers everything else afterward clearly. lets not forgetting making an ~anniversary~ out of the rape, like it's a thing to be fucking commemorated.

the fact that he feels guilty is a good thing. the fact that the entire post was basically saying "i didn't mean to do it" and "from her perspective" and "she definitely experienced" says that he's still wishy-washy over the fact that he actually did it.

here's how it reads to me:

-I did this thing. I am genuinely very sorry about it and feel terrible and want to become a better person.
-I still have not fully grasped what I did and am still rationalizing ways at which it is in some universe not my fault, or at least not entirely.
