we don't have any new blood because dwrp has lost touch with fandom. ljrp had a constant supply of new blood when fandom was on lj, but there's shit here on dw. we could either foster more fandom activity on dw, or encourage tumblr users to come here. they're not that bad, and they adapt quickly. just like you adapted when you were new.

the shaking and crying and stuttering bullshit is just the new way to look "cute" online. i'm not that worried about it. but as a mod, what i do worry about is that now people use wankgate as a place to air their petty grievances anonymously instead of actually working to fix things. 90% of the complaints about my game that i see here are never brought to my attention. it makes my game look a lot wankier than it really is... and for what purpose? new games can get crushed by speculative wank before they even open. i've been rping for a long time and modding was never this hard before.

where are all of these raging sjws who attack players who make mistakes? i see more anti-sjws than anything else. when the sjws do get worked up, it's almost always because someone has made an intentionally inflammatory choice (like playing trans versions of characters who aren't canonically trans, or using a white pb for a nonwhite character). and that happens rarely.

flakiness is definitely hurting rp. i'm not going to deny that. i think that's more related to the rise of bakerstreet and other zero commitment memes than anything else.

nobody wants to stop wank. that's not going to happen. wank has always existed in rp, and it always will. sometimes, wank even serves a purpose. but i personally think it would be beneficial to slow down the transmission and repetition of wank. there's still plenty of room for rp discussion and whining on rpanons.

This is the big thing that kills new games. If a game can't get a decent number of reserves and apps within the first app cycle (sometimes even within the first few days of the first app cycle), it's essentially dead in the water. Lots of things can scare off applicants - a supposedly wanky player putting in a reserve, vague and unsubstantiated rumors of a mod's "cliquishness" or past association with a wanker, anons nitpicking some minor rule, whatever. Starting new games has always been hard, but I think it's harder now.

I can't even blame people for hesitating, though. The app process has become such a pain in the ass that it's just too much effort to app to a game that might not even survive.

bitch if you aren't actually interested in my thread idea don't act like you are and make me waste my time writing up a post that you won't tag into.

Bullshit, but well done with the trolling. People actually responded to you like you're serious.

In my experience, it'd be hard to find a more chill mun. I've never read his Ike before so I can't say anything about his interpretation there, but outside of that, idk what OPs beef is.

And as far as I know, the mun sticks almost entirely to memes and museboxes so he's not hard to avoid if you dislike his interpretation.

None of that will be solved by having this thing monthly. In fact, letting things fester for a month will only make the drama even more toxic.

are people supposed to stop being amused or excited once they hit 25?

(Anonymous) 2013-09-07 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
or maybe people are legitimately tired of apping into new games only to have them die or have the mods shut them down? this is why i've stopped apping into brand-new games. it has nothing to do with anons and everything to do with me apping into four games in a row that shut down.

I had this happen once, the other character wasn't feeling too well and after sex they shit the bed a little bit

it was super awkward, especially since my guy started to laugh, and they couldn't look each other in the eye for about a week

Overjoy didn't die because it was limiting. It died because half the people who apped and were accepted never even replied to the intro log, and half of the people who did never replied to anything beyond that. By the time I dropped, there were five people actually playing that game, and none of them were mods.

Yes. I'm a little mad.

I have a character who shouldn't be a parent and probably would end up with the conclusion of "we can't possibly do this, let's make an appointment and get it taken care of" and I can't see her partner disagreeing too much.

I'd be willing to play the whole thing out beginning to end, and I actually think it can be an interesting test of the characters and their relationship, but I'd hate to think of the OOC backlash I'd receive for it.

I used to frequent baby naming forums and I swear they're more of a cesspool than /b/

They're nothing but racism and crying that GIRLS ARE TAKING ALL THE BOYS' NAMES AND YOU CAN'T GIVE A BOY A GIRL'S NAME AND THERE ARE GOING TO BE NO NAMES LEFT FOR BOYS!

I hate everyone on them. >:(

THIS. I have two potential castmates who are both afraid to app because they're not 100% sure they could keep the characters around for a long time and they don't want to be seen as flakes. Fuck that, I'd rather have them give it a shot and have it not work out, because at least I would get to play with the castmates for a little while even if it doesn't work.

I hate the actual flakes who have given people who drop a character after a month or two a bad name. If someone is active in a game with one or more other characters that have been around for a while, they're not a flake for dropping a character that didn't work out.

what about instances where the characters have never taken it anywhere, but there's been shots of the characters checking each other out/having fantasies about their family member?

do you mean ic? because i can think of a lot of characters who would icly gush about their girlfriend/boyfriend all the time.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-07 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
I agree, but its kind of a self fulfilling prophecy don't you think?

I liked the suggestion a while back that for new games they could have a closed beta phase to garner up a builtup playerbase so people will be more willing to app in once it fully opens.

this. there's a difference between playing mainly with a certain group of cr and only playing with that group.
