why not just give it a trial run for two months? you can't conclusively say one is better than the other without trying it out first.
1) encourage the rp community as a whole to stop being so t-timid and boost their confidence to rp, as in, people won't be afraid to get lambasted for stupid senseless shit that isn't wank-worthy (borders on icons, meme preferences, new and different game concepts, etc)
2) encourage us to not be so reduced and desperate that we resort to wanking about stupid shit like that. just because a meme is up constantly does not mean there's quality wank to feed it all the time. the exact opposite, in fact. there's no real need for it.
lj/dwrp has been stagnating hardcore and the prevalence of constant anonymous communities is a contributing factor.

we don't have any new blood because dwrp has lost touch with fandom. ljrp had a constant supply of new blood when fandom was on lj, but there's shit here on dw. we could either foster more fandom activity on dw, or encourage tumblr users to come here. they're not that bad, and they adapt quickly. just like you adapted when you were new.
the shaking and crying and stuttering bullshit is just the new way to look "cute" online. i'm not that worried about it. but as a mod, what i do worry about is that now people use wankgate as a place to air their petty grievances anonymously instead of actually working to fix things. 90% of the complaints about my game that i see here are never brought to my attention. it makes my game look a lot wankier than it really is... and for what purpose? new games can get crushed by speculative wank before they even open. i've been rping for a long time and modding was never this hard before.
where are all of these raging sjws who attack players who make mistakes? i see more anti-sjws than anything else. when the sjws do get worked up, it's almost always because someone has made an intentionally inflammatory choice (like playing trans versions of characters who aren't canonically trans, or using a white pb for a nonwhite character). and that happens rarely.

nobody wants to stop wank. that's not going to happen. wank has always existed in rp, and it always will. sometimes, wank even serves a purpose. but i personally think it would be beneficial to slow down the transmission and repetition of wank. there's still plenty of room for rp discussion and whining on rpanons.

Then you honestly can't remember for shit. When the hate meme only came around once every few months everyone let loose all their toxic vitriol at once, knowing that they had a limited platform and time frame. People have mostly evened out to crabby bickering here, the quarterly hate memes were way more intense in terms of actual hate, grudgewank and people just cutting each other down as viciously as they could because it was time to do it.
people got their hate out and then they moved on. it was like a release valve for people's stress. now, we just have this slow, simmering, stagnating hate. instead of getting it over with, we constantly stew on the same old wank.

2. Even if we accept your premise, nothing changes about the fact that there is no going back. You can't unring the bell of constant hate memes. If wankgate shut down or went monthly, a new comm of constant wank would spring up almost immediately. Nothing would be solved.
These are not even remotely mutually exclusive, anon. We will indeed never move to another comm even if an alternative appears...so long as wankgate continues to serve our needs. Just like how we stuck with LJ long after DW appeared as an alternative. But if wankgate went to monthly posts, it would stop serving our needs and we would quickly go somewhere that does.
