What beginning? When she's violating the laws of physics by standing in helicopter rotorwash and having neither her hair nor umbrella moving?

Or when she's KYOOOTLY getting lost in the Shatterdome she's lived in for months while newly arrived Raleigh mansplains directions to her?

Or when she's holding a clipboard and being obedient to Pentecost?

Or letting Raleigh stuff her in the escape pod without a word of protest while he faces danger alone?

She's about as sassy as congee.
I see no sass. I see terrible racist asian animu stereotypes. If that's your bag, yo yo yo drive on, but sassypants authority bucking authority like a Japanese Starbuck? u r doin her rong.

But... three of your points are totally invalid here.

"She violates the laws of physics!"
How is this at all relevant to Mako as a character, or to her personality? It's an error on the part of the set planners and special effects team.

"Kyootly getting lost in the Shatterdome!!!"
It has been mentioned that the reason she mistook Raleigh's room for hers was because her experience with him in the Drift left some lingering imprints- so when she mistook Raleigh's room for her own, she really did think it was her room. Because it was an echo of one of his memories.

"She let Raleigh stuff her in the escape pod!!"
Mako was unconscious. Travis Beacham has mentioned that Raleigh would never have sent her off if she wasn't, and were she awake, she would probably have protested.

My bad, you're right. But the point kind of still stands- her confusion was based on the connection they had established through fighting, not meant to make her look cutely dumb or w/e above anon was trying to imply.

no fool, they pretty much "drifted" when they were fighting in the Kwoon. it's practically stated in the novel.

a sparring session isn't going to magically mess up her memories so she really thinks her sparring partner's room is her own.

my bad! Just failed to see the logic in the sparring = drift explanation.

you're probably the person who made all those erroneous 'points' to begin with

Which points? From "KYOOTLY" anon or the one arguing against them? Because sadly I'm neither, though obviously there's no way to prove it.

unless i'm putting in the wrong search terms (entirely possible), she doesn't get lost in the novel.

wasn't she holding the clipboard cause she was making notes because she handpicked the candidates?

your points are so invalid and butthurt rage it's embarrassing. another anon already pointed out your other points, but this?

"Or when she's holding a clipboard and being obedient to Pentecost?"

is so painfully wrong, i bet you didn't even watch the movie or paid much attention. first of all, in that scene, she was taking notes and essentially doing her job. which is, you guessed it, actually a rank beneath pentecost's - but so are everyone else's jobs. and mako says it herself, "it's not obedience, it's respect."
