the rules say that you can ignore people if you really want to. it doesn't encourage you to ignore people, it just means nobody has to tag characters they hate or characters in ships they don't like.
i wish more games had a rule like this. then again, i'm the sort of person who joins rps to tag new people, so i've never needed the rules of the game to make people play with me.
excepting a selective, egregious few, people don't join games and play with other characters outside their ships because they have to, like it's some necessary but tedious and joyless chore, anon. They play with others because they want to, jfc.
