I only call it attention whoring when someone disables responses to a venting plurk then goes all ballistic in their next plurk that "no one gives a shit about what I have to say enough to validate my bullshit so why do I even bother?" What the fuck were they expecting? For people to pp them to pat their ass? For telepathic messages sent to their brain? For someone who's only ever spoken to them on plurk to do an internet search for their address and phone number and to call or mail them to say "I see you were upset about this enough to disable responses on your plurk. In spite of it looking like you didn't want any feedback, I've bent my back over so far that my spine has shattered just to tell you that I validate your bullshit"?
I'm sorry to say that this has happened with a few (former) people on my timeline.
literally every single time i've seen "venting" plurks go ignored, people have thrown enormous tittyfits over not being acknowledged. it's so predictable it's sad and totally obvious they want validation, which isn't bad in itself, but fuck every last one of them for trying to manipulate people into giving it to them instead of straight up saying "hey guys i am having a supremely shitty day and could use some words/gestures of comfort."
this dick went into someone's plurk who was gripping about a person loudly playing their movie sans headphones in a study hall going "Why are you complaining? the person just wants to share the fun!"
or complaining about rude customer? Person comes in and go "I never had a bad customer in my life, you're exaggerating"
