1, only gross neckbeards can dislike sakura tbh. the only time she was unpopular was like in the first fate poll, after that she became fairly popular. more than i can say for ilya, her popularity dropped. even with her own manga, she's just low.
2, ciel's not even the most unpopular tsukihime main character. prize goes to hisui...or shiki tohno.
what if you like sakura but aren't entirely comfortable with the way she was written. like i can't shake the feeling that the crestworms were used as an excuse for sakura to jump shirou's bones, which skeeves me out for reasons i can't put a finger on.

that's one of the reasons why i hated fate route tbh. i'm....well, i'm not okay with it, but after nasu admitted that they completely fumbled the romance in fate i was less angry about the arc in general.
1.unpopular as there are more shittalkers about them, nowhere near as many people diss ilya than sakura. I knew a Sakura player on LJ/DWRP who posted to an anon question meme and literally received the anon comment "why are you a slut", that sort of thing. It's just sad and distasteful.

both receive a lot of negative feedback, at least compared to all other heroines. it'd be nice to see them well played in RP to counter that, but nope gotta tear their reps down even more. ironically no awful sakura comes to mind in RP, i feel bad for anyone who had to play against that ciel/people whose image of her got ruined b/c of it otoh.

rin? rin gets a strong hatebase and has lost about 1/3 of her original fanbase since the beginning. seems rin began getting hate when ataraxia launched in japan, she's called the 'red cockroach who wouldn't die'. while sakura got more popular after that.
