My only thought was that this was a matter that probably could have been addressed with a quick and polite PM, rather than an open post in HMD. I haven't seen rampant use of the word by the character, and a simple quiet request could be done there.
Personally, though, I think folks are making a mountain of a molehill here. Of course, it's Wankgate, so yep. That's what we do here.
But this is also what HMDs are meant for. The player the HMD actually belongs to settled the matter. It is not the HMD of the SO's character, so the SO should not have posted in there at all. Their HMD is now no longer a safe place to take issues to without expecting the SO to jump out of the woodworks at them.
And how the person who posted originally was magically supposed to know they're both gay and that somehow means no one is ever allowed to question when they use the word, who knows.
burningcreator, if you happen to read this, let your SO fight their own battles. Because one, it's their HMD, and two, everything was handled perfectly well without you.
