My character is vaguely disapproving of what yours is doing and suddenly your character HATES mine? ok then.

oh...... you're plurking about no one liking your character? you're bawwing about how mean everyone is to your character.........?

i'll remember to have my character always approve of what yours is doing from now on.

god I absolutely hate when my character's negative opinion of a thing gets blown out of proportion.

I played in a game where my character was against a certain type of person. let's say werewolves. He's known for disliking, not hating or harming, but disliking werewolves in his canon, and pretty much the day after he apped in, with zero indication that anything was going to happen, the game's werewolf population was clinging to each other and wailing about the anti-werewolf potential they could ~smell~ on him.

I didn't stay long. At least let me establish my own character and play them in a way I think is suitable before you all start reacting, tysvm.

Let me guess, the game was Taxon and the actual group was vampires. Because if so, I totally remember that.

this is the worst

especially when months later the character still HATES yours/other characters in similar situations for the same reason even if you haven't threaded with them at all since and they're still plurking and bawwing about how everyone is mean to them

just want to ask if the character is icly hung up on imaginary slights forever or it's an ooc problem

ehhhhh i think it depends on the character.

some characters are really that unstable and egotistical in canon to the point that even mild disagreement with their goals or desires will make them flip out and fly off the handle. certain villains, in particular, canonly don't tend to take any negative response well, even if it's really mild.

if the character is canonly really sane and even-keeled, though, then i agree, it's bullshit.

and the player should never be whining about it regardless of whether the character is insane enough to take slight disapproval as hate or not.

Thing is, it was barely a disagreement, just one small comment from my character followed by something more positive.

and all of their inner monologue switched from friendly stuff earlier in the thread (ex: Blank liked Fill in the name, he felt a close kinship to Fill in the name.) to melodramatic bullshit (ex: Blank felt extreme distaste bubble deep inside him!!! oh how he hated fill in the name!!!). it was really irritating considering the character isn't exactly one to flip out at other people.
