sometimes it's a not-apology for disagreeable PMS behavior that preceded it
i'm guilty of this occasionally
to be fair i apologize too but posting it separately can sometimes show a reason, without it sounding like an excuse. because "sorry i've been a jerk i have really bad PMS" sounds like an excuse
