people can be legitimately friends with assholes, you know. if someone has a bunch of assholes hanging around them it's not always because they're just too worried to tell them no. they can either see something good in those people that they think makes them worth keeping around, or else the assholishness doesn't bother them enough for them to kick them off their friends list or not to be polite.
not that it makes it any less grating for the rest of us though. I'm not going to tell anyone who they should be friends with, but I do question the taste of these kinds of people.

yep! i wasn't there for that, though. i DO remember her flounce, which was kind of hilarious. (she had valid reasons to take issue with the tosh plot, because it was shit in a lot of ways, but she was SUCH a fucking drama queen about it.)

It's the combination of "sweet and polite" and "friends with assholes" that often goes along with "doormat," though, not just one or the other.
Pretty much why I've never liked the fandom, despite enjoying some seasons. No thanks, I don't need it being ruined because the ration of sane people to overinvested crazy man/womanchild is skewed in the batshit favor.
