Ah, sorry, I was speaking of romantic chemistry. I thought they were great friends, but I personally never experienced ship feelings even though I was in the raging age of my unrepentant fujoshit years.
And yeah, the EU made Biggs and Luke childhood bestie/rivals, complete with a side of rich boy/poor boy; they were supposed to join the Empire together but Luke's uncle still needed him on the farm, blah blah. Their relationship included the obligatory tragic kidnapped/murdered girlfriend angst, the emotional death fake-out and Biggs lying/witholding truth to protect Luke.
Not that I shipped it either, even though it checks off like every tick box of a classic slash fan pairing, but I can definitely see why it would be a ship for EU fans. Mostly I guess I just found Luke the least interesting character of the series, but I was always way more into the fighter pilot stuff than the space magic.
Actually, now that I think about it I did ship Wedge/Luke for about 10 seconds over the book that came just after the OT, but Wedge also has like a million better potential ships and they never really interacted all that much past that. Also Wedge and the shit he gets into in the EU is like a million times more interesting in general, even if some of it was kind of ... EU-quality.
