I'm not the one trying to shut down any and all discussion as people being whiny babies.
The mods have a problem with letting characters actually affect the plot. We're basically props for their NPCs right now. And that's not okay. As someone upthread mentioned, this happened in ilpromenade and it's why it got shut down and people began leaving. The most anyone could do was to make the scenery more interesting. NPCs were untouchable unless the mods dictated it. And that's what's happening here.
No one was aware an NPC could be killed or even hurt, and given that it took awhile after the specific event for it to come up, in a plurk that not everyone saw, it's obviously a problem. We can't affect the outcome of what our characters are chosen for if we sign up and are picked and instead are told our characters are interchangeable until the mods get what they want out of the plot instead of letting things happen organically.
We're set pieces in this game, and a lot of people are getting frustrated with that. What's the point of a plotty game if we don't even get to affect it?
Ok, I'm going to whip out my oldbie cane for a moment. Reminder that Ryslig HAD NO PLOT to affect until maybe a year ago. No plot for players to affect. So lets put that out in the open before we continue this any further.

I never considered anyone involved in this a "whiny baby". People are frustrated because the game has been quiet. That's fair. A lot of points brought up in the discussion upthread and on the post were also fair.
What's not fair is trying to say you're props for their NPCs. That's utterly ridiculous imo. The Bloody Bones have barely even been in the game, NPC wise. The only NPC we've seen with any regularity is Frank, and players are constantly screaming on plurk about how precious he is and constantly trying to save him. I'm not saying there aren't problems with how this plot in particular is handled, but to be blunt your discussion and persecution complex is getting incredibly dramatic.
If you want to see being props for NPCs, you should probably go take a look at how CDC was run. Or Each. Or Inugami, I hear they've had a pretty recent NPC snaffu too. Surf through old posts on WG, go look at the comms and the tags.
Ryslig is not an NPC game. Players FLIPPED OUT when the god plot got implemented in the first place and was back burnered for months because of it. The fact that we have an overarching plot at all is something relatively new to the game's life cycle. So all I'm saying is maybe slow your roll a little.

The Advent log had BBs in it and no one but the higher ups in the game and those involved directly with setting it up knew.
Then this plot comes with a predetermined outcome, yet again. Nothing happens that doesn't favor the BBs right now, and it's tiring. That's not a persecution complex. That's being tired of being railroaded. The mods either need to deal with the fact that maybe players like actually having a choice beyond "does she die because we kill her or does she still become the martyr the BBs need because she commits suicide" or "how banged up by the BBs does your character get."
You keep saying "yet another NPC". Did you miss the part where I mentioned that we hadn't had real mod plots or npcs in this game until that event happened? The BB haven't even made appearances outside of the events you listed. Frank made cameos because players want to scooch at him for 24 hours and then go back to painting their nails when it's over.
So salt, the advent log, and this. That's three plots, and I'd hardly count the advent log since it was a cameo in a player plot. Salt included what, 5 players? If you feel railroaded because you've personally had access to the characters twice, maybe three times, and you couldn't kill/hurt them then idk what to tell you.
I like how people assume if we disagree with the idea ~We're only props to the NPCs~, we are instantly suck ups and have zero problems with the game itself. Mmmmm good old narrow minded assholes.
Oldbie is right. And truth be told, I'm surprised none of you saw this fucking coming. The first Salt event's log was dropped like a brick. The Advent appearance was a nice surprise but handled poorly, and iirc surprise mother fucking surprise, those threads still aren't finished. And now people are pitching a fit that they can't kidnap a npc? In what alternate universe hell did it ever seem like any of these mods could reliably play out a plot like that. I will raise an eyebrow and be surprised if any of the RNG fight threads are finished.
Is it okay? Is it fun? Should it keep happening? fuck no but all of you so outraged and butthurt with this event and how it's been laid out need to chill. you act like it came out of no where. Everyone just bitches on WG and don't want to go to mods because of ~visibility~. I know plenty of players who have been getting answers by wait for it: talking to the mods instead of making the game look bad here.
There is a SOTU post coming this week, and if any of you oh so civil anons actually care about the game, fucking argue there and suggest proper change instead of contributing to this mess of a wg thread full of shitposters. If you can't wait for that, go bombard the Monster FAQ page and bring your buddies. I know I've got a wall of text typed up, only got to decide where to throw it.

maybe you are venting properly, but i doubt most people are. They're here solely to shit on things and everyone who doesn't agree with them. If you do show up and have some proper crit, power to you, but I'm willing to bet the majority here will opt to simmer in the background and cackle about how we're all mindless sheep for not raising our voices anon instead.
