Seems like there won't be. I get what they're saying but a character name doesn't really divulge who's apping, unless that player decides to tell people they apped.

depends on the character. if it's obscure enough to the point you're the only one that plays them, that can be enough to tip off people. i understand why it might be frustrating from an apper's perspective but i can also see the logic behind trying to avoid unnecessary attention being cast on someone.

because let's be real, guys, we've wanked on people for less and i don't trust that won't happen again even with the new rules in place. anons are nosy.

it says something about how unpleasant dwrp culture has become that phrases like "the sensitive nature of applications" is even a thing. it's an app for a game. it's not someone's financial information. there isn't anything truly sensitive about it.

As one of the apps in that queue, I have absolutely zero information except that I am one of at least 23 apps that may or may not ever make it into the game. I'm not going to sit here and demand more, but I would hope that as the mods get used to this change, they'll realize that there are ways to give at least the appers information without compromising anything.

Though I personally don't care if anybody knows or doesn't know about me, especially considering they don't know any more than I do when or if I'll make it in.

Seriously. At least reply to our apps with 'you're the 1st/3rd/12th/20th application in our queue' so we have some idea of when our turn is coming up.

how would that work though when the queue moves? will they have to comment every time an app goes through, or

like eventually #20 is going to move to #1 in line, at what point do they start the queue over?

1. Eventually, #20 will be #1 in line, and probably by then there's the former #33 who's now #14, so the queue never starts over.

2. Given how many apps there are versus how many slots tbh I don't think it's going to kill the mods to update the queue applicants every three months or w/e with their new position. It doesn't have to be after very app, but #23 is probably going to be there until at least August and would probably like some info on what's going on.

But how many obscure characters are being apped, where only one person plays them and it's common knowledge who that one person is, and that person doesn't want anyone to know they're apping? If the concern is that the player's going to get wanked on, that's probably going to happen regardless, if they get accepted. Plus since challenge apps aren't allowed, how are people supposed to know if they're submitting a duplicate app?

I like the app queue idea, I'm just confused on how it's supposed to function with the rules the way they are.

I appreciate the concern, I really do, but honestly it seems a little over cautious considering the player info is available to anyone on the taken page. Since the reserve page is still up why don't they use that to indicate that someone in the queue intends to app a character? More than one application for a particular character in the queue seems like a challenge app which they said aren't a thing any longer
