When someone who shakes and cries about interacting with men plurks about wanting to get into sex work because its easier and less stressful than their shitty retail job then gets defensive when people tell them its a dumb idea

as someone who isn't a sex worker but knows people who are, she's in for a rude awakening if she thinks it's easy

I'm a sex worker and it's not easy. It's not taking your clothes off for money. It's not just getting tossed cash. You have to work out, you have to drink almost every night because clients buy you a shot and you can't turn down without losing a possible tip. You have to deal with the most disgusting men while they beg for you to sit on their cock.

Im glad she got called out for minimalizing the industry. You have to be pretty desensitized to male gaze if you intend to make money lmao

i have so much respect for you guys and what you put up with because holy shit

why would anyone who doesn't want to deal with men think this is a good career route

better job: kill your clients and take the cash

+1 from a fellow sex worker

it's just all playing back into the stereotype of lazy hos... sex work is WORK. you have to hustle in order to get business, you have to hustle to keep your finances together, you have to hustle to keep up your image (both in terms of marketing and in terms of taking care of your body), and then when you're actually doing the thing it's very intensive emotional labor. you're an actress who only gets one take to get it right working off a barebones script that can change at any time. honestly weak-minded girls have zero chance of making it in this business. they come in, do it once or twice, realize it's actually difficult, then never do it again and maybe write a thinkpiece for their blog about how traumatizing sex work is or appear in a handwringing documentary.

i muted it before anyone could reply because my eyes were rolling so far out of my head

My fave part was how she thought she'd be such a good mistress that she wouldn't have to touch people and also the fact that she's thinking hard about it but doesn't want to tell her boyfriend

Re: PLURK PET PEEVES

(Anonymous) 2016-05-04 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
wait, she has a boyfriend and has issues with interacting with men????

And holy shit, even if she's just considering stripping in front of a webcam or erotic-chat lines (Which is both very distressful and you make shit money unless you cater to fetishes), not telling her SO is basically asking to get kicked to the curb.

i've prostituted myself a few times and you're just left with this empty, hollow feeling afterwards. it's not "easier" than a shitty retail job. i'm working a shitty retail job now and i'd do that for the rest of my life before prostituting myself again.

da

i think it depends on the personality type. i've done it too and it never bothered me. if you're involved in prostitution or sex work willingly, you kind of have to be the right type for it, otherwise it can really fuck you up.

what a naive knob.

Re: PLURK PET PEEVES

i'm actually kind of worried about her. the fact that her "friend" is offering to "train her as a mistress" without telling her the nitty gritty of sex work makes me concerned that she's being groomed for something seriously nasty. and i don't mean nasty as in "ew sex work is so gross", i mean nasty as in "at best she's being groomed into doing something that violates her boundaries and at worst this is a potential human trafficking case in the making".

but right now she seems to just be fantasizing about ditching a shitty retail job, so hopefully her friends can talk some sense into her before it goes further than that.

who even posts about this on plurk? no one wants to go into sex work if they have better alternatives and it has nothing to do with the people actually working in the sex industry being "less than human" or whatever excuse.

it has everything to do with exposure. if you do porn there is a good chance a lot of people have seen your face and it'll be hard for you to get work. even if you're a dom that means someone knows about it and they can just tell people. while sexual freedom is all well and good we definitely still live in a society where it is frowned upon for women, does horrible things for your reputation, and you will 99.9% always be known for the porn/person you slept with/pictures taken that you've done.

this person just sounds uninformed and a little stupid.

I did some dabbling in the sex industry; really only took my top off and sucked dick in front of a camera for several weeks - but I got to say

How dare this birch reduce it to an easy out like just any tom dick or harry can punch in nine to five with this

this is the same person who whines about how "oppressed" she is because everyone assumes she's straight (and not bi) due to her having a boyfriend. boo hooooo how awful for you.

plus the shaking and crying about men doesn't even make sense considering she has no problem going into graphic detail about her sex life with her boyfriend.

Re: meginatree @ plurk

(Anonymous) 2016-05-08 03:14 pm (UTC)(link)
as a bi woman in a relationship with a man, being mistaken for straight can be annoying sometimes, but it's hardly oppressive. if that's the worst thing that's happened to her because of her sexuality then she has it fucking easy.
