You're aware that the dark haired lower class are meant to represent the average Japanese person wrt the games' inspiration, right? It's not about black people.
and later versions of the series had the different castes represented by various races, for that matter. the social commentary backdrop of ai no kusabi's backdrop has always been about economic classism.
... when Rich Japanese People oppress Poor Japanese People, that's not racism, you mentally deficient mutant, that's CLASSISM
and even then, what's the fucking problem? it's a super fictional analog *at best*, not people playing or fetishizing actual racism/classism/whateverism.
lbr american SJWs deny classism exists. they'd have to confront the reality that their college education is a privilege and they've been led around by the nose by tone deaf rich fucks
tumblr SJWs tend to overlook intersectionality in general and prefer to play oppression olympics, but even then, this is mostly about an anon not realizing that a) not all forms of oppression are meant to be analogs of racism and b) even if people DO play with those kind of concepts, it's not being "tone deaf" it's just making use of dark themes to inform a story.
the audience cares about the struggle of the oppressed because they understand it. people playing in tanagura care about the plot of the game because the setting helps inform their understanding of it by using that analog. there's nothing "tone deaf" about it.
