it's not about communication. if it were just communication, that would be fine, but this is about approaching a cast, hat in hand, to ask permission to play a character you want to play, and to get stuck into whatever plans they have for you like you're apping in their personal plot accessory.
then again, i don't usually play characters that would make significant problems, so maybe i'm just a bit extra unsympathetic to anyone who would have issues with me playing those characters.
i mean, sure, if you're going to play a character who's going to make a massive problem, like the cast's big enemy who should be terrorizing the whole cast as soon as they join the game, then yes, you might want to communicate with the cast. but if it's a character that, on their own, doesn't cause any trouble and isn't likely to try to torture or kill any of the rest of the cast, there is no reason why there should be some deep ooc coordination.
be a flake more power to you but maybe stop holding the rest of us up because you treat plot set up and time sensitive events like insta-development instead of something the whole game (or even your direct cr) should get to do something with?
i know it's just rp but i wish people could understand and admit their limits.
because this is dwrp and it's full of people who think that a game's cast is theirs. it's just simpler to assume that someone's going to think that way than to do extra work for the .01% of the dwrp community that aren't like that.
Having to ignore a character that's important to yours is a situation many people find very frustrating and disheartening, as wg/rpa has shown often. Obviously you can choose to go ahead with it, but again, wouldn't you rather go in knowing that that's what you'll be doing? Rather than looking forward to having fun with important canon CR and getting a nasty surprise that may mess with your plans?
there's a good chunk of rabid f/f fangirls on Tumblr who want to pretend their arbitrarily supported lesbian ship is leagues better than the het options, or even m/m pairings that don't involve the characters they ship because m/m is an acceptable target nowadays. From what I've seen, this doesn't account for all shippers of pharah/mercy, but some get really defensive when there's a hint of a different ship. Hence that genji line being questioned for its legitimacy because genji/mercy fans are totally trying to devalue their lesbian ship. If you want other instances of this happening (and yes the het shippers had sanctimonious asshole fellows, no side's perfect), see Kill La Kill and FE:Fates.
Welp, all right then. Can't argue with that. I'll still keep preferring to talk to people, and I still think it's worth considering for a lot of folks who probably haven't!
claire players are absolutely the worst. I think this would be a solid way for them to operate too, I mean
when the writer explicitly says claire fights are just a plot device and he's never getting significant focus in a book because it'd last twenty pages...
i don't run the plot at all because it's going to be a mess and i can't trust my childish baby players to not feel like they're being personally attacked because their special shiny didn't get picked
even if you rolled again and it wasn't friends, people would get salty
even worse, inactive players who know damn well they're inactive as fuck and won't tag more than one or two people during the entire plot, but sign up for vital plot anyways.
tell him it's a writing hobby and a number of players do not choose to write only small blocks of text. if he can't adequately process this information then perhaps a game is not good right for him. rules are rules and crit is crit and he is expected to be able to process it without any help from the moderators.
i'm p sure i'd be under fire unless i was sweet as pie but i'm sick of these people who either use their disability as a crutch or suddenly develop them during situations like this.
mte on the miscarriage. or she'll give birth prematurely and despite there being no modern medicine and NICU's the baby will somehow be perfectly fine. despite her claiming she's going to play it to full term and how it will be REAL YOU GUYS AND AUTHENTIC tori knows nothing about being pregnant or being a mother so what she means when she says it will be "real" is it will be like how every sitcom portrays pregnancy.
