it was at capeandcowl which mostly took place in the equivalent of nyc. fran really wanted to make a post about the unusually warm weather and someone had already posted about snow (which that time of year in nyc would be reasonable!). but you know, she really wanted to make that post so check!! real world!! weather!!
the mods came in and other players did and it was kind of borderline pa of everyone because fran was a long time problem player who never technically broke rules but was doing shit like that for literally years before i had been in capeandcowl so i imagine everyone got really fucking tired of her shit. it was still YEARS before she got wg drops and was chased out of games for this kind of behavior.

Like, this is a bit of a sidetrack, but for example, it was pretty disrespectful what happened at the '14 and '15 Rumbles and I feel pretty bad for Batista and Rocky that they both got booed outta the building, but WWE absolutely deserved to have their events end like that for the way they booked them.

there's a huge difference between booing something you feel was booked badly and chanting over something that isn't just because it's not what you want to see right that moment.
i think we need more "mods take hmds into account" behavior from mods. the problem is a lot of people get butthurt and either start their initial hmd crit off poorly and nasty or if they don't get the response they like immediately they lose it.
i think hmds should be mandatory in all games for this reason and they should all at least be ip-logging off. i think you can immediately tell the people who take crit poorly from if they have ip on and no anon. while there are people who get harassed and might turn it off for that reason, they shouldn't always have it off and if not, the mods should be willing to convey anon-crit to a player. honestly, if it meant more work for mods i'd volunteer to do it actively if only because i think concrit on behavior or how people play is important and valuable and the more we are able to do this and complain anonymously the more we'll vent here instead of offering any actual improvement.
the problem lies in what happens if the player doesn't take the concrit into consideration? what if they tried and failed because it's just a character they can't grasp? who judges that and even if it's obvious to you and every other player in the game, the person who was critted is gonna be butthurt and their friends are gonna be butthurt.
the other problem is people sometimes want examples, which i get. but if it's been over time it's a little unfair to expect someone to dig through the threads of someone you don't even like or want to play with because their rping is so ooc or bad. and how do you deal with things like bad writing? and unfortunately some people will still argue about well stretching what's ic or how it's subjective when certain things are ooc no matter what (let's say taking the harem anime character who is all on the opposite sex's dick or vag and suddenly making them gay or not having progress on falling out of love).
