Because there are a lot of obsessive, nitpicky weirdos in this hobby.
While we're on the topic this post: why IS this so popular?
I think it's pretty good, and it's more challenging and thoughtful than a lot of kids' shows out there, but with how massively popular it is on Tumblr you'd think it was the greatest show ever. I know there are a lot of people out there that just really love animation but the fanbase seems way bigger than the usual animation die-hards.

we get it. you like your ship. that's great! but you don't need to reference it in every fucking tag you do. your character is perfectly capable of functioning outside of the relationship. canon review if you can't remember this. please stop treating the game like a stage and everyone else's characters as two-bit parts in your ship's epic romance. it's off putting and makes me want to stop pursuing cr with you.
personally, i like it so much because it does all the things i wished a cartoon would do when i was a kid. it feels a lot like finding a big 100k plus word fanfic that plays with all the tropes and character beats and examines all the shit you wish the show did, except it's in the actual show.
there's been a lot of times where i idly thought "i hope the show does this, but eh they probably won't" and then the show did it. it's really gratifying to my inner 12 year old and the frustration i felt when cartoons would patronize us. SU doesn't talk down to kids, which means it's easy for adults to consume and enjoy, too.

Seconding this. Would also love it if every step in the relationship didn't need someone else to shove the characters together. No one else cares half as much as they do. If they constantly have to be forced together for the UST to build, then it's not a good ship.

I feel like Salem is a perfect mascot for dw anoncoms in general.
just to add on that guilty gear seems to be internally consistent in its plot and world building now, which it hadn't been for years. so don't worry about having to catch up with years of lore and world building, you don't need all of that to enjoy Xrd's story as much.
plus unlike previously and blazblue currently they seem to be putting a lot of the story in the actual game rather than having to hunt down an obscure manga that came out in a limited run magazine or something

It's a really enjoyable little show, but the fanbase is reaching brony levels of annoying.
