prepare for bakerstreet to become a homogeneous stew of shipping and/or text memes... and nothing else

"TEXT YOUR PAIRING"
"THE RANDOM TEXT MEME 3.0"
"The Smut Picture Message Meme"
"The Ringtone Lyric Prompt Meme"
"Ruinous Romantic Texts"

it's over, guys. the ecats were a beautiful parasite inside us all along and they won

ignored it because stopped caring about it/batfamily in my childhood

you're either full on neckbeard, into yaois, or new to comics (or not into them at all) if you give a single shit about it or them, even if it's relevant atm.

i don't know what's more amusing. the salt over the memes, or the fact that those memes are the more popular ones, so clearly people are playing in them. sorry your bloody hands bodyguard teenage hormones memes suck.

i know this is a shit thread, but i'll answer for real here. while there are some players that play exclusively in memes and psls, a lot of meme players are also in games. so they get their serious plotty continuous rp there. they go to memes to blow of steam and get a little instant gratification. the complaining about tfln and all the other shitty ecats memes being up and the more 'deeper' memes that people want other to come in and 'rite gud'? a lot of the times, people just aren't going to bs to look for good rp or anything that they can take away other than flapping genitals in the air. if you take the time to notice, you'll be able to figure out that the reason smut/shipping memes are flooding bs is because there's a lack of smutty games for people to get their ship on in them. in non-smut games, they can play out a ship, but most people generally settle on one ship to play since i can hear the cries of cockhop already echoing in the future if anyone played around in the game, even if it's ic.

so they play out their gud ritine in games where they have to follow the rules and they shit out their ass on bs because it's a release. with games getting more strict in apps and plots and closing down, people need to blow off steam. bs is where they do it. expecting anything decent there is just setting yourself up for disappointment. it's like going to the club, picking someone up, and expecting it'll be your forever relationship. not fucking likely.

yeah but if games are getting stricter in their app standards, then doesn't it stand to reason that more players are looking to memes rather than games for their general rp fix?

i get where you're coming from and everything else makes sense, but i just don't think game participation is on the rise the way your argument seems to imply that it is. there's always been a subset of players that behave the way you describe, playing in games for their "real rp" and going to bakerstreet for throwaway funtimes. but there's also been a subset of people who play on memes exclusively just because they don't want to join games for whatever reason, and no, they're all not shit-tiers either (though a lot of them are).

personally, i think the rise of lazy text memes has less to do with an increase of game players and more to do with a lot of the non-shit tier meme players retiring or going elsewhere for their rp.

i don't think game participation is on the rise. with games closing and the pool dwindling, i think a lot of people are psling. that survey that got posted on rpa shows a lot of people doing psls.

i wouldn't automatically equate bakerstreet regular to a shit tier, but there are a lot of players on bakerstreet that play there exclusively that i avoid. some of them play there because they can't get in a game. others because they just don't like games.

the latter part of your comment is pretty much what i mean. it's either games or psls (or leaving rp) for the 'good' writers. of course, writing and quality is subjective, but i think most people that happily play on bs are content to do as they are. there might be some meme posters trying to 'make it better' by trying to force memes (i've seen a lot of memes that just don't get any attention getting consistently reposted every week in some stubborn attempt to make them a thing), but posting it over and over again isn't going to make anyone play in it. maybe if they tried something new that required more effort to play in, but appealed to the mood of bs, they might get somewhere. but i can avoid bs for weeks and come back knowing that i'm going to see the same 20 memes in three days. it's lessening my desire to be on it.
