it's an insight into the general decay of personal responsibility that so many people nowadays do. i'm ashamed to think i once did, knowing even then there were people around me who were just as bad or even worse off who (horrors!) just... well, pulled themselves up by their bootstraps, just like that other anon in this thread. and they did it without relying on assistance (which isn't bad by itself, but it shouldn't be option a) or blaming the system, which are both frankly more than i was capable of doing.
