basically +1'ing the replies saying nah, you're cool
honestly if it were me, i'd be a bit flattered that you're curious/interested enough to ask - lot of the time for me i try to at least get a few bullet points of info down in their journal but sometimes i forget.
no horse in this race but as an artist, it hits close to home to find "fans" harassing them to any extent, let alone something to this degree. especially professional artists who do this as a job. like any job, it may not be what we want to draw, but we do it anyway because that's what being a pro is about. we have bills to pay too.
this is one of the reasons why it's stupid to pre-circlejerk about tumblr fandom: if you're just patient for five seconds someone will pull a stunt like this
I use this information for purely informational purposes. Sometimes I might make use of this information for the education of others. For example, I might make note of the location, age, or gender of my followers to illustrate a certain cultural aspect in one of my essays on Luke Skywalker.
if its someone I enjoy or care about I'll often let them go on about things that interest them but don't interest me. Not because I care about the subject but because I care about them and its something they're really enthusiastic about and its important to them and they want to share that with me. Granted, if its all they ever talk about I'll verbally put some space in but if its once in a while, sure, why not? It makes them happy to share something important to them without someone important to them and ten or fifteen minutes of my day isn't going to kill me to waste on someone else's happiness.
Family has their own code for 'I'm out of this conversation' so I can't make a call without knowing your family but if its all your mom goes on about or if she's not that close with the cousin - nah, even then she was probably trying to connect - but if its all she ever goes on about I can see needing to shut things down. But either way, yes it was rude but whether your mother should have been disengaged from or not is really a situational matter.
you sound like you probably do this to people so i doubt you're going to understand, but
you can't tell these types to "back off". if you do that they'll have a meltdown. it's like every other rper who claims they want brutally honest crit when in reality they'll shit themselves if you bring up any sort of question about their rp choices to them. nobody wants to deal with that. best you can do is ignore it and hope they take a hint, or brush it off casually (in your own plurk, not theirs). and sometimes that's not enough for these people.
generally someone who does this is more obsessed with your character and their idea of how they want to ship their character with your character than you as a rper and what you bring as cr. they're the type who'd happily godmode your actions if they could. the kind of desperate sort who doesn't usually get a lot of interest in their characters because of how they are ooc, so they cling to whoever they can find and see what sticks. these people are a dime a dozen in a hobby full of social outcasts tbh.
I was about to say that setting a game plot in a real world war was a valid concern, except that that's apparently the point of the entire game. While I wouldn't personally join a game with this premise, what did that anon think was going to happen? If this is a thing that bothers you (which is fine, whether it does or doesn't) don't join a game based on it. Wtf.
holy fucking shit. how the fuck are mods supposed to know what exactly you want when you don't give actual examples and instead just continue flailing your arms angrily?
also if this is such a HUGE problem across multiple players, where are these other people and why aren't they saying anything? mods can't magically fix shit that makes people uncomfortable if people don't tell them what they're doing wrong. and people wonder why no one wants to mod anymore.
not that this person should be in this game anyway if ww1 is setting them off like this. but good to know they think all the people who died fairly pointless deaths in all the other wars before ww1 aren't important enough to throw a shitfit over. stay classy anon. only people in recent history matter i guess. everyone else is not worth considering.
I know the setting was changing not too long ago and people felt it didn't resemble the game they loved anymore. I'm not sure what's happening now, unless it's still the same thing.
Agreed with all of this, especially the last part. I guess they were fine with all the people who were tortured and burned alive and all the other shit that happened before 1900 but anything after that is just too much?
Historical missions will involve historical wars through time, though none will be more recent than WWI.
This is ripped straight from the FAQ; the mods were never trying to hide that they would be touching on WWI. Why would this anon join this game if they weren't comfortable with that?
some people just chronically bitch and complain and think they can whine and bitch towards getting someone to change things for them. joining a horror game and whining that there's too much horror. joining a smut game and complaining that there's too much focus on smut. games with no ocs or craus constantly having someone bringing up that they should really allow ocs or craus and oftentimes demanding to know the whys of it.
the game is the game. if there's an aspect of it in the faq or rules you don't like, then don't join it.
if a game goes against its stated premise you can complain. if it's just doing what the mods said would happen and you complain anyway, stop joining games because no one should have to deal with you
All she drew was two guys -- drawn humanoid and not like Legos -- cozily hugging each other and even that got people angry. People'll ship what they want man, even if it's Lego people. We were just laughing because her 15 minutes of internet fame was over whether shipping two Lego guys was bad or not and she doesn't even ship it.
being a whiny person on plurk for complaining about hating shit while living at home isn't a name and shame worthy thing, anon. most plurkers whine about something that other people roll their eyes over.
