i wrote this assuming this was a "don't talk to me" from someone i played with enough to consider a casual friend. just opting out of being tagged would lack all the emotional components of this because that's fine, why would i want to force someone to play with me who doesn't want to
this is my favorite wank of any fandom i've had
Seen the movie, and nowhere in it does it even remotely suggest that Delmar was in WWII or killed people. I found a book called Jungle Stories: The Life of Delmar Strunk when I was trying to figure out if there was additional material that isn't in the movie, and that one just happens to be a non-fiction novel about a WWII soldier who's name is coincidentally Delmar and has no connection to the film. Otherwise I have no idea where she got the idea that this character was drafted because it's not canon.
to be fair, a lot of men were drafted into the war. it’s not unreasonable to think someone of that age in world war 2 would be drafted
I wouldn't bother asking why, and I'd probably go out of my way to avoid them and any situation where our characters might interact, block them on plurk, etc.

isn't this a pretty reasonable piece of headcanon for the character's time period? afaik it's not abused for the trauma factor or used for ic buttpats left and right, but correct me if i'm wrong on that
Matt came to like a frightened animal. Pain was dialed up to eleven and smells seemed to attack his nose. He thrashed and groaned trying to bring his hands up to cover his screaming ears. Without meaning to, Matt called out for someone he thought lost forever. "Luke!"
It could be reasonable to assume that he was drafted, but I'm having a hard time seeing this character on the front lines killing people like the player headcanons. There are other jobs in the military and I just can't imagine this character ever firing a gun before based on what I saw of the movie, let alone killing anyone without suffering trauma, and tbh just throwing that in his history for no reason comes off as insensitive to me.
I'm the anon who questioned canon vs headcanon above (but not op), and while I don't think it's necessarily unreasonable to have had him involved in the military due to the draft, some ways of handling that are in better taste than others. I found some of the IC mentions of the war to be cringe-worthy even when I thought it was canon, and knowing now that it isn't just makes them more so.
What is it about people who play idols and slice of life characters that they never bother to show their waifu or husbando training or working on things but suddenly claim all over the place they can take down heavily seasoned fighters and monsters? I’ve yet to see a single one of them actually put in the time and effort for development.

i would think they were a maladjusted weirdo for not giving me any reason for it and probably be glad they're staying away from me
i was friends with patch for awhile. he was your typical annoying young tryhard male on the internet, but he was pretty funny and fun to talk to about fandom stuff at times. or to poke fun at various rpers.

Seeing how long other threads are in a post I replied to isn't stalking anon. You see that scrolling by. It has been months on end with a canon mate. Other friends have told me not rp with them anymore but I can't control them apping into the same games as me and then showing zero investment. Also more time like days on end or dropping our threads completely even when they are important to the plot. Which I would just stop tagging with them if they weren't a character mine canonly depends on.
i have castmates who are awesome writers and i want to give them my best tags, so it takes me longer to tag them than it does just some random casual cr. it doesn't mean i don't like tagging them, it means i like tagging them so much that i want to make sure that my tags are up to the quality of theirs.
Talk to them. Maybe not point out that you've noticed them actively boomeranging with other players, but let them know in some way how their pattern of leaving you hanging is affecting you, or give them a time you wanted a thread to be finished/reach a point where it doesn't hinder your ability to tag newer stuff.
If they apologize and promise they'll "do better" and nothing changes, I'd recommend looking for greener pastures for your CR. I've talked to people who did that to me all the time, canonmates and close CR, and despite them promising to tag me during more than one conversation, they still end up falling back back to their old patterns. Best to cut your losses and find people who will engage with you so you're not stewing in such a rut.
It sucks and it differs depending on who you're dealing with. Either they get better, they say no, or they lie and tell you what they think you want to hear and continue their behavior. Not much you can do about it once you've addressed the issue with them, unfortunately.
