once babies get to that magic month where they realize doing xyz get a reaction they become the most openly unapologetic manipulative little assholes. i can not tell you how many times i've seen a baby cry or throw something or break something and then turn around and laugh at you as soon as you come running. part of their charm, i guess. still never want one.
anyway i'm sorry it sounds like you've had terrible animal experiences. i want to tell you these things don't happen but. they do! they do all the time--the claws, the wanting food and attention. it's part of the having a pet experience. like i said, for me the pros (companionship, like having someone who is ALWAYS excited to see you and never seems to doubt you, you can trust with all your secrets, all the stupid fun antics they get into, being able to meet and connect with other people through them, health benefits like lower blood pressure/stress, etc) definitely outweigh the cons (i didn't even touch on expenses being another thing. whoa man did i save a lot of money those months after my dog died....)
i feel most sad for people who want pets but are allergic. i think that's something else a lot of people forget is a thing. allergies. a lot of people don't want pets because they are allergic to them.
i will say, having a well trained/behaved and well groomed animal will mitigate a lot of those cons, and speaking as someone who's worked in animal shelters for many years... it's really fucking sad just how many people--how many pet owners--are not educated in area at all. so many people just really shouldn't fucking have pets. for someone to recognize pets just aren't for them, as an animal lover, i really appreciate that.

YEAH i always get a little skeeved when someone has such a visceral overreaction to animals (or any specific thing for that matter) without clear reason. you aren't born into this world hating animals.

my eyes roll far back into my head as soon as i start seeing bra/band size numbers and inches and centimeters used in a character description. sure fine, list it if there's a character art book that has it listed somewhere as reference, but i can guarantee you it's probably not drawn to that exact size because bra/band sizes do not matter.

i read people's reactions and went in braced for reylo and other things and just about none of it was true?? if anything, i felt that movie firmly shut down any possibility of kylo redemption except maybe in death (just like grandpa).

as someone who loves animals but is extremely 50/50 on dogs and dislikes the vast majority of dogs i feel some of your pain. it's acceptable to say you hate just about any animal, but if you say "i hate dogs" holy shit the floodgates open and you have crazy dog people jumping at you to call you evil.

a lot of it comes from people getting fed up with sad white boy angst in shows/movies and obnoxious villain stans, which means that kylo is getting a ton of aggro. this kind of nerdrage has been building up for 10+ years on tumblr and it's finally exploding all over the place. i could go into the arguments against reylo or more specific reasons why people hate kylo, but tbh it's mostly people looking for excuses to rag on pop culture's latest sexy tragic hot topic villain.
they're mad because it has some fucked up aspects. depictions of fucked up relationships are automatically wholesale endorsements according to a lot of them.
i can only see a plausible redemption arc if he dies during it. he was already set up for one when he and rey fought against the emperor 2.0, and then he went for the power grab. and in the first movie, he was close to redemption but went for the dad kill instead. so i think he's going to have to be dying for any actual redemption to happen.

it's more about two things: fucked-up aspects being interpreted as "aww he loves her, how romantic", and that most avenues for reylo involve not only absolving him of the years of murder he's been an active, leading part of, but also that it again sets up a romance plot where the woman (rey) has to focus on redeeming the lost bad boy (kylo).
luke essentially absolved vader of the murders he'd committed, at the end of rotj. why is that acceptable, and not for rey and ben's situation?
