make a mod announcement "it has come to our attention that fake answers have been attributed to the mods..." so you don't have to reveal yourself if you are an anon mod. and if you aren't anon, the player is stupid to have you on their timeline and think they can get away with this.
So? Just correct them. It was either an innocent mistake due to them misreading or maybe your initial answer not being as clear as you thought it was. In which case, everything is resolved and cool.
And if it was a purposeful misreading, you've cleared it up and nipped it in the bud before it could spread further and everything is also resolved.
all mods' pet peeves boil down to the fact that players refuse to communicate problems, and in the rare instance when they do communicate, they just whine without presenting any kind of actual solution
bonus points if the players' complaining about something is a veiled attempt to ignore their own responsibilities
what is it with people who think they can get an exception to a deadline? (whether that's for apps, AC, plot signups, whatever) are there mods out there who actually say yes when someone comes whining "but i forgot/didn't read"?
