this quickly soured me on one of the most popular ships in my fandom (and fans of said ship got a reputation for being pushy), and I dread seeing someone who plays the other half of the ship in case they expect me to play their boring yaoi cliches and not the actual character.

I don't have pastebins on hand b/c this plurk was a few months ago, but James definitely tried to rally the troops to harass a fanartist on tumblr. it was over something relatively inoffensive like someone drawing a chubby character not fat enough or some nonsense like that.

aside from that, they're obnoxiously armchair activist and a tumblr style sjw where they'll shout about how queer they are and shout about various injustices (real or stupid) but not actually DO anything about them. and on a rp note, they project super hard on their characters to the point where it's a little uncomfortable.

there's one character i would love to app as a crau somewhere because his game shut down before i got to finish playing out the character arc i had planned for him and i don't want to have to start the whole thing over from the beginning since it had taken me almost a year just to get to the point he was at. i was happy with where i'd gotten him and i just want to see his arc through to the end.

I really was considering playing Connor from DBH considering how much I enjoy, for a lack of better phrasing, "becomig human" trope and I thought he offered the best availability to develop a character through roleplay since he is the most robotic of the cast, and I like his communication style

but every fucking fan thinks he's a soft woobie that wants to fuck his dad mr krabs, and now I won't even touch this character because I'm friends with people who roleplay the fandom and their perceptions are awful, and they push the worst shit for plots

I've been playing (and writing in fic) Connor as the sassy bitch he actually is and it's lots of fun; don't let the idiots in the fandom ruin it for you. They tend to be the loudest, but there are still lots of people who will appreciate a more in character representation if you wanted to go for it.

I've been playing the same character for awhile. it's tiring having to play out adjusting to tech in space jamjar 27 with a character who wouldn't understand portal hopping or space travel every time a game closes.

I like long, convoluted canons to begin with. CRAUs can turn any character into one.

After playing a character for a while in one place and having them grow and change, sometimes I don't want to jettison that characterization to start fresh somewhere else, either to avoid repetition or because they might come out completely different.

Sometimes I'll app with someone else to preserve and continue CR after a game closes.

Keeping years of game canon straight is as easy as a text doc with anything I think might be particularly relevant down the line. Sometimes I forget things! But that's true of canon, too. And real life, for that matter.

As for getting tagged more or less, I don't really notice a difference from my non-CRAU characters? As long as you're not weird about it, with your character constantly making a big deal about it (which, if it's not their first rodeo, they really shouldn't), at the end of the day, it's just having extra some canon to work with that almost nobody but you will be familiar with.

i'm the anon that pointed out the game is currently pretty healthy and i can honestly agree with this. i don't see it lasting long into 2019 either, despite still doing well now, and that's just the natural cycle of things. very very few games last 2+ years these days.

it's defensive to screech WE'RE NOT SINKING I SWEAR when the ship is undeniably going under, yes. recolle may not be dying right away but it's definitely in decline and has been for awhile, even most players will admit that. you'd be pretty dumb to insist (or indeed a whiteknight) otherwise.
