my job does a trick or treat charity community/charity thing a week or so before halloween to avoid scheduling conflicts and because the last day of the month is busy. the turn out was pretty great.

think of it like people doing work related holiday parties not on the actual holiday. because no one wants to be at work during a holiday you have off.
