if app caps fill up, too bad. keep the game small and manageable, or of course this is going to happen, hello?? games don't have to last forever, but having a finite plot actually play out instead of the game crashing and burning like a plane falling out of the sky would be nice.
you know, you could always go start your own game and prove how easy this is yourself. i mean, if it really is so easy to avoid, show us all by demonstration.
otherwise, you're just sitting here talking out of your ass and blaming the mods for every problem you have with the game.
And how many people have tried to start games that then can't because no one will help them? One person can't mod a whole fucking game, and no one wants to help, so we're all stuck with the same polluted gene pool of shitty mods.
Help people run better games, or you're part of the fucking problem, too.
oh, i see. when someone tells you "go start your own game if you think it's so easy", you admit how difficult it actually is and point fingers at other rpers.
but when it comes to the el nysa mods, it's all "they should easily be able to fix everything wrong"
then maybe they should stop bitching over how hard they have it? who wants to mod for tittybabes like this, it's like you can't even understand why people are reticent to begin with
and if you didn't see el nysa's plight coming a mile away you are legitimately low iq and i don't feel any sympathy for you at all. sorry you lost your seat at the popular table but maybe next time you could try playing in a game with actual substance and not just Generic Premise X designed to rake in as many tdm comments and plurk spam as possible. no idea what you expected from a game that was LITERALLY DESIGNED for the shiny crowd. spoilers: it wears off.
they exist. i'm not going to point them out for you or bored anons to single out, but they exist. i'm in one. it's possible, i promise.
look, when you app into a game that is marketed towards flakes, you get flakes. and when you get flakes, the best mod team in the world is not going to sustain a game when they're the overwhelming majority. i know you and "LOL MODDING ISN'T THAT HARD" anon are convinced that you can just snap your fingers and boom you have a game, but it doesn't work that way. you're just coming across as whiny and entitled that your big shiny box withered and died when all the red flags were there from the very start. in big bold letters even.
move. on. and by that i mean stop playing at shallow flakemarts just because your friends are. stop following the herd, do your own thing, be happy. simple stuff.
this is such a stupid gotcha question because any game that anyone mentions, you're going to tear apart. if you've never heard of it, you'll make fun of it for being obscure.
this isn't a genuine attempt at discussion, this is a trap, and no one's going to fall for it.
The Nysa mods are a team you idiot. Yes, running a game is hard, but if a group of not fucking idiots sets up a system and sticks to it, a game isn't that hard to run. I've done it. The problem is inexperience and an inability to delegate, coupled with lazy flakes and people who don't want to take responsibility.
i can understand you're getting frustrated because i'm poking holes in your flawed argument but the fact remains that you're just making excuses for yourself and moving goalposts.
making a game and running it is a lot harder than people think it is. and if you really have modded, you should know better than most that sitting here bitching is the far easier course of action than actually doing something and putting your money where your mouth is.
if you really want a plotty game to play in, go make it yourself. the el nysa mods are not obligated to give you any of their work or anymore of their time than they already have. do i think they could've done better? yes. do i think they were bad mods? i think they got overwhelmed and didn't know how to deal and it ended up cramping what vision for the game they had.
but at least they tried. which is more than can be said of someone like you that will make endless reasons for why they can't possibly start a game of their own but won't stop blaming the ones that did.
exactly. it's not hard - just make an app cap and then stick to it. if you want to limit the game to 100 characters then say that and actually mean it and don't go "well actually we'll let 200 characters in instead."
i'm game if they are. i'm happy to post a sock and make it happen. i'm full of ideas, i just need a couple of people who aren't idiots to help. pity there are so many idiots and cowards in this hobby who would rather bitch about the problem instead making even the most minuscule effort to do anything about it.
that's the spirit! the anon i've been conversing with seemed very concerned about going at it alone. i'm sure they will be happy to know they already have a co-mod ready and willing to help.
as a former mod, this was preventable. el nysa's setting and plot would have worked best with a smaller, capped group.
mod posts even directly address this several times. like from january: "However, our original vision for El Nysa's plot elements has become harder to implement with the scale of the game vs the size of our current mod team."
i've co-modded a small private game that lasted for almost five years because we said we were going to keep it small and then did. we knew we couldn't run the plot we wanted if we had too many players/characters to wrangle so we just put in a hard character cap, no exceptions.
