this. honestly i'd rather rp shippy or smutty threads with a wol player i know than gen threads with a wol player i don't. if i'm rping with the former, then i've known them long enough that i can trust them not to use me as a fun dispenser just because i'm playing the other half of their wolship. with the latter, there's still a chance they're going to be a self-absorbed asshole when it comes to our cr.

Hey, OP of this post here! I've added extra details because an anonymous source was awesome enough to log into LJ and grab me screencaps of the entire convo between the players and the mods. If you wanted to go back and read someone getting really upset about the logistics of acquiring a hang glider in the 1950s, I'd take a second look.

nfn but i have met wols who are married to other wols (who are also being played in dwrp) and they're still nasty assholes. a lot of them also have open relationships so they can still chase their fave npcs, so they're both nasty *and* ship-pushers. you can be the rare decent wol, but the truth is people are still dealing with the bad ones who have pulled every trick in the book to get what they want.

I have not tried to RP her anywhere but my wol is an actually bad person. someday I would love to play her against canon npcs who can't stand her but have to be nice or she won't kill gods for them

JRPG cast. Sizable cast in an active game. Got asked to join by someone I played with on a meme (was playing their rare character love interest). I get in, things are going well, I'm making CR, building plans with the cast, playing out lots of fun "what if" scenarios that never happened in canon because my character was a tertiary character.

Then the player who asked me to app starts making drama every thread we have. Every. Single. Thread. If my character isn't wanting to make out and take the D their character is being an angsty twat. I'm totally confused. I talk with their closest cast mate who's been in the game with them longer than me and we make some plans to get Angsty Player some more CR (they were basically playing with only me and Cast Mate Bestie at this point). We execute said plan.

Totally blows up in my face as Angsty Player has their character go full yandere on my character. But wait there's more! I'm talking with Angsty Player about the yandere OOC and they say to me when my character talks to other men it feels like she's cheating on Angsty Player personally. Not his character. On the player.

Absolutely horrified I go running to Cast Mate and ask wtf. Cast Mate does the equivalent of surprisedpikachu.jpg and Homer Simpson's into the the wild.

I quickly had my character break up with Angsty Player's after that. They stuck around for a few months only playing with Cast Mate enough to make AC before thankfully finally dropping...

The wol really has no canon personality at all to stick to, huh

da, kinda. from the vague interferences you can make from the occasional answer option you can choose from and some job/general questlines, the wol comes off as "willing to be the hero to their own detriment." why they're willing to do so, and what their general demeanor is (other than the game making jokes about you being a silent protag), is entirely up in the air.

the wol specifically doesn't act or do too much in cutscenes for 90% of the game either outside of generic reactions (being alert when an enemy appears! looking sad when a sad thing happens!), likely to allow for the player to project their own intended personality onto the protagonist.

you're trying really hard to convince people that you're not like the other wols, huh? seems kinda pushy tbh

and also other hobbies totally have drama sometimes so we're actually less wanky for having a centralized wank community where people complain when there hasn't been enough wank lately

tbh i have no idea why these wol players keep chiming in to beg for y'all's approval, you guys sound like a complete drag to be in a fandom with

if you think people should suck it up qand be smut dispensers for bad fandom ocs over and over again while not having fun themselves because they owe it to their castmates, you might enjoy playing the warrior of light

It is equally annoying having them take over Discord gamechat about HOW WILD AND CRAAAZZZZZYYY their WOL gets up to in their world and then they do the most blandest fucking shit in game like your WOL is normal af and they talk up how weird they are in their game canon cause they are cowards and boring in the actual setting and trying to prove otherwise.

Sorry. Can't trick me into thinking your character is interesting by telling me what they did in their MMO if all you're doing is being choosing the most normal and boring options, like always choosing the options that would least likely get ANYONE mad at their supposedly super weird WOL.

Alisaie will just punch her tbh, if she can tell Zenos off to his face she's not gonna hold back.

i say i don't want to ship because wolnpc ships are boring as fuck and i'm really not interested in the stupid head over heels hero worship the game forces on the main character

y'shtola has a giant furry boyfriend to go kiss and emet's a dumbass, stop saying they're in love with me, i don't care, npcs have other npcs to fuck, if i'm gonna ship with anyone it'll be the hippokampos
