i said sort of reasonable take, not reasonable headcanon. it's not, it's an insane headcanon, but the thing this person is flipping out over is daring to not make the character asexual

da but that's not how i read it? i read it as them being uncomfortable with the player insisting that there had to be some sort of traumatic reason behind the character being asexual instead of just... having the character be asexual, which tbh i agree with.

i didn't get that at all. to me it reads like them saying they don't want to link asexuality with l's weird behavior, and would prefer something unrelated to an inherent sexuality (in this case, a crazy headcanon) to explain the weird behavior. shrugs.

l being asexual isn't canon though, that's the thing. the creators just said that they couldn't imagine l having sex, which could be for any one of a multitude of reasons. if the player is uncomfortable with l with his weird behavior being asexual, they could simply not headcanon him as asexual in the first place.

their whole argument is 'the creators said this character doesn't have sex but i don't want to headcanon them as ace so instead i will invent this wild and offensive headcanon to explain why he does not have sex' which is silly because someone can not have sex and also not be ace

it's like they can't comprehend that there are any options between 'ace' and 'actively having sex'

yeah and i agree that's nuts. however!

the person responding "i, an asexual person, am triggered by this" is even more nuts. it has nothing to do with them or their sexuality. they aren't saying "your headcanon is nuts", they're shaking and crying about asexuality

i mean, he doesn't have to be ace either its just. castration kind of a hurtful direction to go just on the creators saying they couldn't imagine having sex. i really encourage you to think about it.

pretty sure this is even the arguments that anons use here when this comes up, that chemical castration is extreme and could be harmful to pull out on random players for no reason at all when there are a million other options before that to consider
