I also see it as forcing a bizarre headcanon on anyone else who might be in the cast. I know not many people play Death Note anymore, but if there was someone playing anyone else from that house or God forbid, Watari, they'd have to agree with that headcanon.

L Player: L was chemically castrated
Near/Mello/Watari: lol what??

I am asexual and this is how I see it. I feel like the framing of"this is offensive to asexuals" in the Pastebin is a little dramatic, as to me it's less about asexuality than it is about failing to be forthright about head canons on intense subjects like abuse that could seriously impact canon mates. It sounds like the L has that primarily head canon for the drama (and maybe shipping?), not anything to do with asexuality as a whole.

tbh it's up there with the "trans saitama" headcanon with how unnecessary and fetishy it is.

it was kind of unfortunate to see the sayo in that plurk, who's a character that is both canon trans and a victim of genital mutilation.

sorry, what?

having a real hard time following where the second line came from since neither trans headcanons nor genital mutilation headcanons come up in the original plurk

chemical castration is a form of genital mutilation, anon.

no. no, it is not. chemical castration interferes with the production of sex hormones but doesn't meaningfully alter the structure or function of the genitals.

this is like calling suppressing thyroid hormones "thyroid removal".

and don't well-ackshually me with putative tissue changes due to long-term use of anti-androgens. it is in no way morally or medically equivalent to going at someone's genitals with a knife.

you realise that if this is true then taking hormonal birth control also counts as genital mutilation by that logic

both things exist to stop you from reproducing and also often have an impact on sex drive after all

i mean hell if we're going there then ssris would count as genital mutilation too because they often impact your sex drive

if you hear "chemical castration" and assume the chemical being used is hydrochloric acid or something then sure

but if thats what youre thinking then i think you just dont know what chemical castration is

Re: da

dda but what i personally found offensive was the "Ace would be a very clean and neat solution to a very unusual and scarring situation, and it doesn't feel realistic to me" and the "I know a lot of ace people who are functioning and happy adults, which is a huge reason I hesitate to slap the label on L, who is a very broken and stunted person." it's the implication that being ace/not being ace is somehow connected to a person's past experiences instead of simply being the way they were born.
