Players pushing the limits could have had a hand in this also. I don't play at Dup but I remember the wank that happened when someone decided to handwave themselves a mansion with no actual IC work. Isn't that when they started ruling that people had to report ic acquisitions or something?

If you're trying to run a dystopia and your players are trying to turn it into a slice of life sandbox, there's probably going to be conflict there.

They give that vibe but I don't think punishing everyone else is the way to address that problem.

that's true but it's gone too far in the other direction. now it feels as though nothing is allowed and the mods are there just to punish players instead of encouraging plots and exploring the setting. ironically the mods are the most brutal thing about the dystopia setting right now

they were definitely rigid and inflexible before that whole mess. check the ooc questions on any event post, and you'll likely find a lot of perfectly reasonable questions being given blanket "no" answers no matter how small, squashing potential player plans before they have a chance to happen. i'm with one of the anons above: at this point, i'd rather ask for forgiveness than permission. mods can't read every thread, how are they gonna know if i do something they'd have shot down as long as it's small and innocuous?

if you want to do a player plot just have your character brutally murder someone and brag about it on the network, they won't get in trouble at all and can wander around doing what they want...
