playing a recognizable character definitely helps but it isn't necessary

yeah, you can definitely skip or compensate one element of the 'recipe,' if you hustle. i honestly think the most important ingredient is proactivity. put yourself out there. keep in touch. ask and tag threads consistently. come up with actual ideas. don't outright suck.

that's kind of it. so many anons like to pretend dwrp popularity is reserved for popular ship shippers, sons of shakespeare, ass kissers or friends of the mods, and it really isn't that deep. those things can help, but you don't need them. if you're failing to get any kind of traction at all on a site where we consistently see people grateful to not get their 100000th thread dropped, then yeah, you're probably the problem.

reasons why i always roll up my eyes at all the sob stories on rpanons WEH WHY WON'T ANYONE TAG ME WEH I'M ALWAYS DROPPED

people refuse to recognize that they may, in fact, be part of the problem and a million anons rush in to pat their ass like oh no, poor baby, when a lot of the time OP is leaving out key context or straight up lying about the situation to garner sympathy instead of actually reflecting

which yeah, it's the internet, that's what people do, but you can practically time your watch to this now and it's pathetic
