an example of a character being a douchebag while arguably being in character: one of my first introductions to bbc sherlock was the sherlock in my old game whining about how bored he was in the middle of a fantasy event that had plenty of things to do. this might be ic for him, but it still made him come across as obnoxious and completely insufferable - though tbf, obnoxious and insufferable seem like sherlock's main traits
