ayrt's friend is probably one of those cringe "you pull you tank" people from twitter who think not grabbing aggro off of players to punish them isn't griefing

lol they try and vote dismiss people, too. we had a small argument once about it. idk as long as you're not a dick like voting pulling dps out of the duty or something I dont care if they single pull.

I've tried to talk to them about it but "it's hard for them" so I guess dying is scary or something. again just a game and we rp other stuff so its whatever.

tell them to play warrior, they'll never need to be afraid of wall to walling a dungeon again

I've had plenty of people single pull as warrior too anon. those types of people refuse to learn how to play their jobs

yeah, i mean moreso if they're scared of doing bigger pulls and are playing gunbreaker or dark knight or something then i guess i can see where that comes from and war might be more their speed

there's a dude in another community i post in who leveled DRK all the way to 90 without doing job quests. he simply refused to do them.

meaning he doesn't have the blackest night.

as a sage main my asshole puckered just reading that and it still hasn't relaxed weeks later.

as a gnb player, i assure you, you can wall-to-wall as a gnb

didn't say you couldn't, but if you're already so bad at tanking that you can only single pull, playing gnb or drk isn't exactly going to be working in your favor

my favorite thing about this comm is that people are so excited to fight they will completely make up what they're responding to in order to get madder about it

they have every tank leveled and main only tanks it's just in their brain haha. idk seeing them and their in-game friends gush about their wols and stuff while being really bad at the game part has discouraged me from rping even npcs. from the sound of things there is a lot of drama on the rp side in-game? which isnt all that surprising.

not to shit on them more because they are my friend but what really gets me is they own two mediums and a small house on our server. their bf owns two as well or something? I guess the new housing makes it harder for them to cheese buy tons of housing but I still think they should only have one. either way they are the only friend I have from dwrp that also plays ffxiv, but knowing other shitters also rp here is funny.

I haven't RPed on either but I knew people who used to RP on WoW and judging by the nuclear wars that would get started over there, it doesn't surprise me that it trickled more heavily over to FFXIV when Blizz hemorrhaged players

the rp scene has always been nuclear in ffxiv, even before the wow refugees came in. roleplayers are always dramatic, look at this community.

it's funny tho bc there isn't a WoL problem with in game rp like there is in DWRP, because playing as one is usually frowned upon.

i think the in-game rp scene is much less drama-prone than it was. before i started there someone told me there was some kind of anon callout tumblr for in-game rp, and a lot of fc/friendship implosions evidently happened because of it, but i'm 99.9% sure it doesn't exist anymore, and the ffxivrp tags there seem sparse. i could just be missing something though

someone I know's RP FC had their med house stolen from them and sold for RMT gil on Sadu's Housing Server because they gave ownership permissions to someone to decorate it for an ERP event

so yeah, even if it's not in some rp tag it's happening.

i was sympathetic up to ERP event, then it was funny

i really hate this argument because it’s always in extremes on both sides and never considers things from both perspective and possibilities

i have all tanks leveled, prefer doing big pulls, and tbh the reason i hate when people pull is because 80% of the time it’s in a situation when you shouldn’t. the healer is under geared, new, or just a shitty healer all around.

one time I got pissed because i queued with a friend who had specifically asked me to do small pulls because they were still learning healing and weren’t comfortable with big pulls. the two DPS over course went nuts pulling. which, to me, at the time was griefing from our perspective.

and I have had too many experiences where we wiped to trash mobs because of these situations where we have to trudge all the way back. making the whole thing take longer.

if you’re queueing with a friend or whatecer, go wild. but if it’s a stranger in a pug, then you’ve made your own bed.

the other day I was tanking and had to literally ask the dps to stop running ahead and pulling everything before the healer and I could get there. one of them responded telling me to "talk less"

ayrt. legit this is why I don't care if they single pull tbh. I'm often heals but you never know who you're getting with df. some people dont have any chill either. I wish they would pull more sometimes but its not like we queue every single day. playstyle isnt a huge issue for me as much as the additude people bring into it.
