if she said that, then it's on the people saying she did to bring the proof of it

true, but the rest of ayrt's point still stands

bee didn't only clarify the finger thing, she tldred and played victim about the whole situation while clearly being part of problem. so while i don't disagree that the finger thing needs proof, it cannot blame people for seeing the context and thinking that someone misspresenting nine points is also misspresenting the tenth

absolutely, but the point is that bee still had all the rest of comment to look like a ass even if the finger thing was a lie. concentrating on that is taking off the attention of the actual crazy

Re: ayrt

(Anonymous) 2022-04-10 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
this may be a disagree to disagree thing. i don't care if she's crazy because i don't play with her, but i do mind about people making up finger slicing and running to anon about it, if that makes sense.

oh it's fine to be bothered by that comment, and i don't think anyone would disagree if that was its own separate subthread commenting on how far anons can go? but it keeps coming up (here and rpa) in the context of judging bee's craziness and it's like... dude, who cares about the finger when you have the rest of their comment. it looks bad (in general, not implying you are trying to do that on purpose) when people are sideeyeing a person and someone comes and says "ah but on THIS ONE thing they're fine!"

"I said the next person who showed me a basic lack of courtesy was getting their finger bitten off."

Bee's own words, imo that sounds like pretty much what anons interpreted it as. Sure it's a vent plurk but it's still a fucking weird thing to say.

Re: dda

(Anonymous) 2022-04-10 06:39 am (UTC)(link)
that's not at all a weird thing to say.

it's obvious comic hyperbole, anyone with any sense knows she's not going to literally bite people's fingers off. are you a fucking child?

Re: dda

(Anonymous) 2022-04-10 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
Most of us outgrew that kind of edgy hyperbolic violence when we were about 23 or so. We have this conversation all the time, anon. Half of us still like that humor, and the other half wants the first half to grow the fuck up.

Re: dda

(Anonymous) 2022-04-10 06:53 am (UTC)(link)
love how you went from it being valid to have interpreted that as an actual threat to just saying it was immature the moment someone pointed out how stupid it is to take it so seriously.

Probably because you were talking to different anons

Re: dda

(Anonymous) 2022-04-10 06:53 am (UTC)(link)
nobody is taking it literally

the problem is that until we see a pastebin, we only have bee's comment to go off

and they sound deranged on that comment, so from the little clues that we have, it sounds like they threw a fit because someone asked them not to tag them and they're blaming it on rl stress

it's what the "comic hyperbole" represents: a whiny baby ranting because they weren't told not to tag a log. that comic hyperbole is still a stupid reaction to have to such a request

Re: dda

(Anonymous) 2022-04-10 06:54 am (UTC)(link)
"nobody is taking it literally"

except the people in rpanons, dave's player included, acting like it was somehow a valid threat.

just admit you too something seriously that wasn't meant to be taken seriously.

"from the little clues that we have, it sounds like they threw a fit because someone asked them not to tag them"

except the little clues that we have are bee saying that the vent plurk wasn't about rp, they just threw in the stupid megan drama as part of it because they considered the response they got outside basic human courtesy or w/e the wording they used was. the finger thing was 'i had this shitty interaction [on top of everything else] and if someone else interacts shittily with me right now i'm going to have words about it'

the tantrum didn't start over rp or not being told to tag the log, it was just another part for them to fling shit about while already in a mood and venting about unrelated things that should have been handled by not being on plurk dot com in the first place

like it still shows that bee sucks ass at handling their emotions like an adult, but 'they threw a fit because someone asked them not to tag them' is removing a bit of context. they threw a fit because they can't vent anywhere more productive and made the poor decision to be unhinged about unimportant non-drama as well

it's

a turn of phrase

it's literally a way of saying "i'm so pissed i'm going to snap at the next person who pushes me"

it's a sign that they need to log the fuck off but it isn't weird

you can't be this dumb

Re: dda

(Anonymous) 2022-04-10 07:13 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think anyone is actually worried about Bee biting actual fingers off but the point is that its an ugly response and a bad sign for anyone else who wants to assert a boundary.

Re: dda

(Anonymous) 2022-04-10 07:16 am (UTC)(link)
it's not the idiom itself that is weird, what is weird is that "i'm so pissed i'm going to snap" was a reaction had to a boundary

you are the dumb one

Re: dda

(Anonymous) 2022-04-10 01:38 pm (UTC)(link)
imo "getting their finger bitten off" has the same effect as "getting their head bitten off" which is an idiom everyone uses all the time (you might be ESL so just explaining)

making it "finger" or "fingers" makes sense in this context because we're all typing, not speaking

it's just an idiom, not an expression of violence

Re: dda

(Anonymous) 2022-04-10 01:46 pm (UTC)(link)
+1

blows my mind that people in a hobby about reading and writing don't understand what an idiom is or how it works

(for those anons, it doesn't literally blow my mind, my skull is still intact - just in case you need the clarification spelled out for you!)
