I recently met someone who only started RPing on Dreamwidth within the past six months, and multiple people within the 18 to early twenties range.

We don't have a flood of new players but there's still at least a steady trickle.

i think this may be confused? there was a big wank over ten_fwd and chicklet was there but not sure they were involved in what went down. it was a whole thing about some people taking over the game from the mod who was going to close it and some harassment that took place. deets are crusty af though.

+1 to this, i know we don't like saying the t-word around here but i've met half a dozen players in the past year that would fall into one of these two 'new player' groups, and all but one of them were transplants from tumblr. shit's dying over there and as much as we like to moan about how much the community here has declined, dwrp is fucking thriving compared to the tumblr rp scene

a couple ppl entirely new to dwrp joined my game just a couple months ago and are integrating fine

newbies exist. in fact, a lot of them are also adjusting well enough that you couldn't tell they're new by threading alone until they mention it. it's cool to see

i'm not really seeing a dogpile, i'm seeing people politely letting her know why this isn't gonna work out for her. i don't even see anyone being particularly mean

chicklet was involved in the wanky implosion of ten-fwd but only in a passive way afaik. a small gang of players forcibly seized control of the game away from its head mod who wanted to close it and chicklet was part of that gang, but by all accounts the ringleaders were gen and kippur (and maybe murgy). chicklet was just a cheerleader for those three, unless there's deets out there that only ayrt knows.

note that chicklet is described as having "been dropped here multiple times". seems that even as far back as early 2016 she had already acquired a negative rep, tho for what idk

really she should have just called this game blacker than black noir because literally everything that isn't disneyland frolicking is she something she is demanding be FTB

tbf she also claimed she would then add a toooooon more sugar after getting the sugar pumps, teehee! so chances are she was drinking even more sugar than what was already calculated.

sure, i just don't love how this "almost a kilogram" figure gets thrown around when there's basically no way it was actually that high.

but i also suspect this person has a serious unhandled medical problem to be stomaching that much sugar without throwing it up or at least feeling ill, and i don't love how we basically use that to call her a fat slob

You play your character really well. Unfortunately, since at his most IC he's a whiny manbaby full of drama and histrionics who ends up with half the cast running around in a tizzy and trying placate him by babying him anytime he throws a temper tantrum or has a meltdown, it's really not that fun to play against him since it's been a full year of this and you seem to show no signs of wanting him to grow or change his personality. I'm sorry but I have to get off the drama train for my own sanity.

their call-out culture is even worse than ours. for as much as wg right or wrongly gets shit on and blamed for dwrp’s decline, people on tumblr have been doxxed and gotten death threats just for doing ships somebody else doesn’t like. i’m just surprised it took them this long to finally implode.

+1 a newbie meme lurker was asking recently on rpa what good beginner friendly games there were, wanted to transition out of memes and try out a game environment

i'd love a newbie friendly game, i want more new blood but not like this. everland is too vague and already has bad management written all over it even if you discount chicklet's personal neuroses and history. her entire post reads like she has a well-meaning idea in her head but in actual practice is going to expect a more competent co-mod to wave their hand and make her vision work somehow since she obviously can't figure it out. all her vague limits and personal wants are an unfair shackle to burden a competent person with.

hugtopia can't carry the weight of being baby's first dwrp game alone, and it's still formatted with the expectation you already understand how dwrp games work in a broad sense. idk if cosmic crossing will take off but something like that should get better traction (heh) for newbie's sake. maybe another attempt at a nexus game like ddd or something.
