+1 to this, i know we don't like saying the t-word around here but i've met half a dozen players in the past year that would fall into one of these two 'new player' groups, and all but one of them were transplants from tumblr. shit's dying over there and as much as we like to moan about how much the community here has declined, dwrp is fucking thriving compared to the tumblr rp scene

their call-out culture is even worse than ours. for as much as wg right or wrongly gets shit on and blamed for dwrp’s decline, people on tumblr have been doxxed and gotten death threats just for doing ships somebody else doesn’t like. i’m just surprised it took them this long to finally implode.

I don't even think that's the reason it imploded, though. Twitter has the same sort of culture (and worse, people will be upset with you for continuing to RP instead of making statements while certain issues are trending) and an even worse interface for RP, yet it's where most of Tumblr RP has gone.

People really, really want to RP on whatever their primary social media site is regardless of how awful it is. Tumblr RP is dying because fandom moved to Twitter.

people are stubborn and sometimes it takes time for enough of your circle to bleed out that you can't hold onto that excuse anymore
