look, i get you. i do. let's say i see the eighth iteration of greg on a meme and i love gregs and want to tag all the gregs. so i go check their preferences because not all gregs like playing with sandy or shipping with sandy and are very pro-patrick. that's fine, but i generally prefer to know before i tag so i don't waste my time. but this greg's journal is the default layout with no posts or they have a placeholder that they must have put in when they made the journal six years ago and never bothered to actually fill out, so it's just uselessly there. i get a name (greg), but i have no idea if they like tagging sandy or patrick or cast or cross canon at all.
what do i do? i put up a 'hey, just seeing if you'd like my sandy for xyz or 123. if you've got another preference, just let me know. i'm perfectly happy to write a starter, but just wanted to check in with you first. cheers.'
one of three things will happen. 1) i get ignored. 2) i get a 'no thank you, i don't like sandy's rly'. 3) i get a 'yeah! i'd love to, go right ahead!' (followed by either them ghosting the starter or replying back, it's a coin flip on that any time)
if you can't handle one of those three things happening, don't bother playing with any new people ever. because even with a journal full of info that lets you know all the relevant things that you want to pick over to decide yes, yes, this greg above all others is the one you want to throw your sandy at, they still might not tag you back. for any number of reasons. ones i probably haven't included too (which might lean towards they've seen your sandy and don't like it/you).
you're not in the wrong for wanting info (which you can always find out if you google, like others have mentioned), but even with it and opting to tag, you're not entitled to anyone tagging you back. and it feels like people that get this mad over "BUT THE INFO" are also the kind to get upset if they don't get tagged back. you're allowed to be picky but they aren't? maybe they just aren't as invested in pimping their character out as you are. oh darn. move on and find the ninth greg.
